class=\"subsection\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p>(a)\u2002The number of registered voters required to sign a nomination paper for the respective offices are as follows:<\/p>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(1)\u2002State office or United States Senate, not\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 65 nor more than 100.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(2)\u2002House of Representatives in Congress, State Senate or Assembly,\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">State<\/span>\u00a0Board of Equalization, or any office voted for in more than one county, and not statewide, not\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 40 nor more than 60.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(3)\u2002Candidacy in a single county or any political subdivision of a county, other than State Senate or Assembly, not\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 20 nor more than 40.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(4)\u2002With respect to a candidate for a political party committee,\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">if<\/span>\u00a0any political party has\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 50 voters in the state or in the county or district in which the election is to be held, one-tenth the number of voters of the party.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">(5)\u2002<span class=\"added-material\">If<\/span>\u00a0there are\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 150 voters in the county or district in which the election is to be held, not\u00a0<span class=\"added-material\">fewer<\/span>\u00a0than 10 nor more than 20.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"subsection\">\n<p>(b)\u2002The provisions of this section are mandatory, not directory, and no nomination paper shall be deemed sufficient that does not comply with this section. \u2002However, this subdivision shall not be construed to prohibit withdrawal of signatures pursuant to\u00a0<span class=\"cite\">Section 8067\u00a0<\/span>. \u2002This subdivision also shall not be construed to prohibit a court from validating a signature which was previously rejected upon showing of proof that the voter whose signature is in question is otherwise qualified to sign the nomination paper.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/><br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\"
